    Pre-Reflective Question

    Reflect on your personal experiences:

    • As you go through the course, think about your clinical practice or your experience with the healthcare system. What challenges do people experience every day with timely access to care, transportation to and from medical appointments, communication issues, and providing support for friends and family going through a medical "scare". Now think about the magnitude of these challenges when trying to access health care services from a geographically isolated community, with English as a second language, support networks left behind and minimal prior contact with the medical system, including limited access to educational information and primary care providers. For many Indigenous people, this is their reality when accessing cancer (and other medical) services. What can you do to mitigate some of these challenges? If you have any unanswered questions after reviewing the course content, please look in the Additional Information folder or the Interactivity Guide Answer Key found at the end of the course. You can also contact us at iccu@ontariohealth.ca and we will do our best to answer your questions.
