Q. Who is Ontario Health
Ontario Health is an agency created by the Government of Ontario with a mandate to connect and coordinate Ontario’s health care system in ways that have not been done before, to help ensure that Ontarians receive the best possible care. Q. What is Ontario Health E-Learning?
The Ontario Health E-Learning site offers a variety of online resources for continuing professional development to primary care providers and other healthcare professionals, as well as a module on smoking cessation for people with cancer. All are free of charge and accessible anytime, from anywhere. Resources include various self-directed online courses, some that will earn you continuing professional development credits and a Certificate of Completion. You can complete as few or as many courses per subject area as you wish—just be sure to check the site frequently because new courses will be added on an ongoing basis. The Indigenous Relationship and Cultural Awareness courses are accredited by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for Mainpro+ credits. The number of credits allotted varies by course.
Q. Who should take these courses?
Courses available on the Ontario Health E-Learning site are designed for the continuing professional development of primary care and other healthcare professionals. There is also a module on smoking cessation designed for people with cancer. However, anyone can take the courses.
The Indigenous Relationship and Cultural Awareness courses on the site are designed for healthcare providers, professionals, administrators and others (including non-healthcare professionals) working with First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous people and communities. You do not have to be in the health profession to take these courses because the content extends beyond the health field and course content is relevant to many disciplines.
Q. How do I register for Ontario Health E-Learning?
Individuals must complete a registration form to register for the Ontario Health E-Learning site. Registration can be done by visiting the “Registration” page and completing the quick and easy registration form, the whole process takes less than five minutes. As a registered user, you will have access to the E-learning courses at any time, free of charge.
Note: Users will need an email address and will be required to create a password for their account.
Note: Registration is not required to access the module on smoking cessation for people with cancer.
Q. How do I find the Ontario Health Region where my organization is located?
Please visit the following website for more information on Ontario Health Regions: https://www.ontariohealth.ca/about-us/our-programs/ontario-health-regions. Please note that Ontario Health Regions only apply to Ontario residents; if you live outside of Ontario, please select the ‘Not in Ontario’ option.
Q. Why am I being asked to update my profile when I sign in?
You are being asked to update your information on the Profile page when you sign in because the required registration information has changed since you first signed up for the Ontario Health E-Learning site. You will be asked to update your information each time you sign in until your new profile has been completed. Updating your information only takes a few minutes and can be done by completing the quick and easy form on the Profile page.
Q. How do I log in if I have forgotten my password?
Visit the Forgotten password page and follow the instructions to reset your password.
Q. What software do I need to view the E-Learning courses?
All you need to access the E-learning site is a recent version of a modern Web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Safari.

Q. Is there a cost to Ontario Health E-Learning?
Ontario Health’s E-Learning courses are available at no cost.
Q. Can I get continuing professional development credits by completing Ontario Health’s E-Learning courses?
The Indigenous Relationship and Cultural Awareness courses are accredited by The College of Family Physicians of Canada for Mainpro+ credits. The number of credits available varies by course.
For the Smoking Cessation and Cancer module, members of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada can claim the time spent on this module as a Personal Learning Project (2 credits per hour) under Section 2 of the Maintenance of Certification continuing professional development program.
Q. How do I claim my Mainpro+ credits?
After completing an Indigenous Relationship and Cultural Awareness course, you will be able to download a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is customized and includes the date you completed the course. To claim your credits, please submit your credits online at The College of Family Physicians of Canada website. Please retain the Certificate of Completion for your records.
If you misplace your certificate, you can re-download it at any time by logging on to the Ontario Health E-Learning site.

Q. What do I do if I receive the following error message?
“Sorry, this site requires Internet Explorer 8 or higher to display and function correctly."
You are receiving this error message because you are using an outdated version of Internet Explorer that is no longer supported by Microsoft. Please update your browser via Windows Update or download the latest version. You can also try installing the Chrome Frame plugin, which may solve some of the issues experienced in older browsers. If you are using Internet Explorer 8 or higher, you may have Compatibility Mode switched on. Turn Compatibility Mode off to display the Ontario Health E-Learning site correctly. Finally, you can try accessing the site in another browser, such as Google Chrome, Safari or Mozilla Firefox.
