    Pre-Reflective Question

    Reflect on your personal experiences:

    • This course examines why Indigenous people have greater health literacy needs than the general population. The course also explores how mainstream health literacy approaches are not culturally relevant and how healthcare practitioners can provide health information to Indigenous patients in a way that is culturally appropriate and effective in managing chronic diseases. As you go through the course, think about how you navigate the healthcare system and the literacy skills you use to do so. Is this knowledge incorporated into your healthcare practice? How could you better incorporate Indigenous health literacy into your daily interactions? If you have any unanswered questions after reviewing the course content, please look in the Additional Information folder or the Interactivity Guide Answer Key found at the end of the course. You can also contact us at iccu@ontariohealth.ca and we will do our best to answer your questions.
